    1. According to the Fox News article "Student says she was suspended for acting as designated driver" on October 14, a high school volley ball captain was stripped of her title and suspended for being a designated driver for her friend. Erin Cox receives a message from her friend requesting a designated driver, but soon after arrival the party is broken up by police officers. However North Andover High School claimed she was in violation of the school’s zero tolerance alcohol and drug use policies. I personally do not see how this is so. She helped a friend in need and was not entoxicated when doing so but she is still punished for her actions.

  2. On Tuesday 1 October 2013, the US government officially shutdown. According to the CNN news article "Government shutdown: Get up to speed in 20 questions" by Holly Yan, the government shut down is due to the inability between the Republican controlled Congress and the Democratic controlled Senate to come to an agreement on a spending plan for the new fiscal year. Congress is refusing to make any decisions unless Obamacare is derailed for another year, which is where the Senate draws the line for any compromises.

    1. Although the government shutdown is due to the inability from both parties being unable to compromise, funding is the major issue leading to the shutdown. As in, the government choose to not fund the Obama care because they preferred the affordable care that only benefits those in the upper class with money.

      Delete
    2. Actually I heard, only 18 % of the government shut down and those departments were social security and welfare.

      Delete
    3. For me, using the term "shut down" makes it seem as if the government is literally not functioning. However, only that specific part of the government is inactive. It would be better if when referring to the "government shutdown" to specify, instead of making it look as if it's the government as a whole.

      Delete
    4. You're both right in saying that the government as a whole hasn't shut down. I mean Congress is still getting paid, the army is still active, and other necessities are still open. However, the parts being shut down are crucial for the lower/middle class to merely survive. Funding for programs such as WIC, which offers help to new mothers who wouldn't other wise be able to afford to feed their baby, and the funding for domestic abuse and rape crisis centers are getting cut off tomorrow. So, no. I would refer this as an actual "government shutdown" since the government is letting the programs that the people need the most go completely inactive.

    5. In all honesty, I fell that the government "shutting down" is idiotic since it is due to the republicans refusing to vote on Obamacare. Both political parties need to get over their differences and work together, so our nation can be better. The Unites States is already corrupt enough as it is.

      Delete
    6. In reply to KiittKattz, the cooperation of political parties within the US government is irrelevant. I believe that our government is trying to spite us since they are aware of the impossible odds with which Obamacare is facing. They are aware that America has come to its senses, and will no longer put up with the bull that all in favor of the crisis that is Obamacare, are trying to do to us, and are now forcing us into submission by cutting off agencies upon which the populace has learned to reply upon. If you ask me, this "shut down" will be the best thing to happen to America since sliced bread. It's about time all of America woke up and smelled the roses, that they understand how the government is running, and just how corrupt it is inside and out. The longer this "shut down" continues the deeper a hole these corrupt politicians dig for themselves. The average American does not monitor their government as closely as we all should, but when their pensions and disability checks never arise, maybe then all of America will be able to see what has happened to us.

  3. On Wednesday 2 October 2013, the Turkish government was guilty of human rights abused. according to the CNN news report "Turkish authorities committed human rights violation" by Ivan Watson and Gul Tuysuz. An excessive force was used in turkey by the police when protesters wanted to keep a park from becoming a shopping center. amnesty reported that the Turkish committed human rights violation by firing plastic bullets and tear gas canisters at indignant demonstrators. This vile act resulted in injuries of thousand of civilians. Moreover, it was told that the women involved in the riot were threatened and harassed sexually by the officers. Some were even unfortunate victims of sexual assault. The police men responsible were not penalized for their actions; therefor, the public perceived this as the government being involved and that the use of such excessive unneeded police force was a strategy to intimidate the women in particular.

    1. The un-involvement of the government in that situation says a lot about how little they value their people. The government should have been involved in such a serious offense, even if it was only to find out how true the claims were that the women made.

  5. On Thursday October 3, 2013, shots were fired near the U.S Capitol after a car chase had occurred, putting the Hill on lockdown that afternoon. As reported by the Fox News Network, the car chase began when a woman tried to take down a security barrier near the White House. This incident was apparent as lawmakers were debating underneath the dome about the partial government shut down. The event caused a "mass panic" in Capitol Hill. Sirens were wailing and everyone was told to stay in place. When the police located and surrounded the woman, she stepped out of her car and 5 to 6 shots were fired. Cathy Lanier, the D.C Police Chief, confirmed that 2 officers were injured, one from the U.S Capitol Police when he crashed a police car during the chase, and the other from the Secret Service, but both injuries are not life threatening. It was validated by the police that the suspect was killed after an officer had fired their weapon at her. Thankfully, no shots were fired at the White House. The woman has yet to be identified.

    1. When I heard about this, I thought it was crazy. I wanted to know that how did that woman rationalize that trying to break through a security barrier with her car was a good idea? Was she mentally stable? It could've been worse though; she could've gotten through. I also heard that in the car with the woman was an infant. I believe it was 9 months, but I'm not positive. That part shocked me even more. This just shows to us that we have to constantly watch out for people who don't always make the brightest choices.

  6. On a Monday in Chicago in the lower south side a 28-year-old father was changing baby 6-month-old Jonylah Watkins's diaper in the family minivan, when suddenly both child and father were brutally shot.
Before the incident when the mother of Jonylah Watkins was pregnant with her she was shot in the leg news reports say.
CNN reports say "The shooter was firing at the father, and exclusively at the father." The shooter was not yet to be found or identified. Until police find a suspect a 33-year-old Koman Willis and put him in custody, on May 28, 2013 Willis was charged with first degree murder of 6-month-old infant Jonylah Watkins death.

A 9-year-old boy slipped through security at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and flew on a Delta Air Lines plane to Las Vegas without a boarding pass. It is not clear why he snuck onto the plane. The boy was screened at one of the airport's checkpoints shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and got on the Delta Air Lines flight to Las Vegas 11:15 a.m. Crew members became suspicious of him during the flight and contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.Officers took him into custody when the plane landed. One big concern though is how he was able to bypass security without being caught.

    1. This shows how the security system is not as strict as it may seems. Also, how the issue of 9/11 is still not being addressed if something like this can occur.

    2. I read this story but on CNN news and I just think that's crazy not only are the security systems not as strict as they portray themselves to be but also how age effects the way society see's a person. For example, those who see an older man/women that look's suspicious they watch out for them or watch them more closely compares to a younger child. With this story coming out it shows kids can get away with much more than adults can.

      Delete
    3. I saw this on the news recently I can't believe that no one noticed him go in. Hopefully the airport has made the security more strict after this. Like Emily said, kids can be seen harmless but sadly corrupt people can see this as an opportunity or tactic to use them for their evil deeds. I am not saying that the nine year old boy was attempting to commit a crime or cause any harm, but children should be given as much importance as adults when going through airport security systems. Not only for our safety but for theirs as well.

    4. Airports are very busy and stressful places to work at, depending on what you're certain job is. If you work in the tower, your job is very stressful. If you're a janitor, you're not stressed. Different airports are busy at different times, so maybe the employees were to busy to even notice him. The fact that he is just a small 9 year old kid and another thing to consider, he might have been hiding from the employees.

    5. Thank God nothing happened to anyone on that plane. Hopefully after that incident, security start to really pay attention and not get overwhelmed with all of the chaos.

      Delete
    6. It's crazy that a nine year old could just pass by and get on a plane. Security should pay more attention because that could happen at any time. The top questions should be "how did the boy manage to pass security?" AND "what if something had happened to the plane?" All the possible answers to the second question is indescribable. In order to resolve that problem security must do their job better and make sure to be noticing everything whether is something little or big. It's the best thing to do to keep everyone safe.

  8. According to the CNN news report, three U.S. soldiers, Jeremiah Hill, Cedarium Johnson, and Ajoni Runnion-Bareford, were arrested for the murder of fellow solider, Tevin Geike. These four men were all appointed to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Police were investigating Tevin Geike's death as a hate crime, but the interviews with all involved prove otherwise. On Saturday, around 2 a.m., Geike and two fellow soliders were taking a walk, a car with about five black men passed, someone in the car yelled at the group of three, the car stopped and turned around. Then some comments were exchanged, and Hill stabbed Geike, and managed to injure himself in the process. Whenever asking for help with his injury from his friends, what he told the police and what he told the hospital were three very different explanations. Geike died soon after he had been stabbed. The reason for the stabbing is still unknown.

  9. How to sign up for Obama Care? It is an affordable act of insurance for the people, they are now enrolling whoever wants to be enrolled. Obama care starts 2014, but people should start to sign up by Dec. 15 so they would be covered by January 1st. Results from a survey saying 6 to 10 people are not aware of the exchanges of the healthcare, that it is better quality. If wanting to sign up for Obama care is depending in the state you live, there are some policy exchanges depending on the state. People can sign up at healthcare.gov; it will ask for your state, from there it will give more instructions. Signing up to Obama Care can benefiting you by helping you have a good and affordable insurance for their family and themselves. They have Medicaid, programs for your kids (CHIP) and you will learn more about insurances in your area. Payment plans will be told on the website when applying; also you can enroll over the phone on their help line. (Obamacare: How do I sign up? By Tami Luhby Oct. 1, 2013; Source CNNMoney .com)

    1. I think Obama Care is something that is good/bad in different ways because you can help the less fortunate get on their feet while providing supplies like these but then again, giving to the poor and knowing that they have something to rely/depend on will never allow them to earn something themselves. So in reality, think about it, are we helping the less fortunate by conveying a message that they will not have to work anymore because healthcare is provided for?

      Delete
    2. In my opinion, I think Obama Care is overall a good idea. It gives to the people who can't afford to get health insurance and such on their own so they can help their families. Yes, it can be seen as just giving healthcare to the poor without them earning it, but a lot of people in this country are working their butts off to put food on the table and pay their bills so health care isn't exactly their priority. Everyone can always use a little support, but it's up to the people to not abuse it.

      Delete
    3. I think it is good in the sense that it gives the less fortunate a fighting chance to get back on there feet, but I think it should be limited because it will only hurt them if they know they don't have to do anything and they will be fine.

This past summer around May/June, According to CNN news, those people in the United States with $200 in their pocket could either spend it on a brand new phone or a designer purse, but if you live in places like Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong or any country in the Middle East that may not be the case. Maids, that are women are bought and sold for up to $200 dollars. In one situation was a women named Sarah, she was Filipino domestic working whom was sold to 11 different employers in Saudi Arabia. Sarah ended up in the hospital after getting beat up quite badly by one of her last owners. Because of this tragic accident the Ople Center was created to help those of the middle east.

    1. "Employers", meaning slave owners. I was able to compare that story a lot to the incredible book "A Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass". The slave owners in that book did things similar to what the "employers" are doing to the women they purchased. It's tragic, really.

      Delete
    2. So.. Slavery in the Middle East? That's no big news. The Middle East, for all intensive purposes is still classified as a third world country, and as such we should have no hand in their affairs. Way back when (and still now) slavery was no big deal, in fact we traded slaves like they were lunchables, and we never thought twice about it. Our interference in the affairs of any Middle Eastern countries should be banned, because how will they learn how wrong slavery and similar practices are unless they fight for the abolition themselves? If China came in right now and told us we could no longer do something that benefitted both our country and our pockets, only because they felt it was "immoral" we would not listen. We would fight for what we believed in, regardless of what the Chinese thought. So our interfering in these "employers" business is not what we need to be doing, we need to step back and allow these countries to go through their own self-discovery, and only then will we resolve this problem, not by establishing useless clinics that these victims can run away to.

      Delete
    3. It is horrifying to learn that slavery is still being practiced. I believe that the creation of the Ople Center is an excellent step towards helping those who have been affected by slavery, In response to Bailey, I absolutely disagreed with you. You're argument is basically the same as if you were to see a child bullying another child, and you were to do nothing about it. How could someone just sit back and watch that, and not do anything? The solution to the problem is to do something, not the complete opposite.

The boys traveled with a missionary nicknamed " M. J.". M.J. leaded the boys from North Korea to China to escape the beatings, mistreatment, and hunger. Once, the missionary and the Korean boys reached their check point in China they finally received food. The youngest boy quoted "even the beggars get food, its great!" After filling up on food in China , M.J. and the boys hopped on a bus to Laos , but "border portal" discovered the children and sent them back to North Korea. 2. I think it is terrible that these boys were sent back to North Korea. If that country didn't want them there they could have sent them to a place where they could be protected rather than back to the misery that they had finally escaped. I wonder if when they were sent back they were punished by the Korean government because now they know more than they should.

    3. It is horrible to know that this is still happening on the other side of the world. What I don't understand is why the North Korean leaders don't want their people to know more, as if it'll harm their own kind. Plus, is there so much more that goes on inside of the country that nobody else in the world is aware of? This type of leadership shows that care of the people is not occuring and maybe the want of power is the leading cause.

      Delete
    4. Knowing this is so heart wrenching, it is horrible that they treat their people so badly. Shouldn't they care more for their people? I mean even the Germans didn't treat their own kind so terribly, mistreatment and killing of the Jews was wrong too, but it's crazy to think that Koreans in North Korea have to escape to China instead of just going south to South Korea. Also, with what Palak was saying, maybe that country didn't want conflict with North Korea, so they just sent those kids back. It's still sad though knowing they just escaped a horrible place but then have to go straight back.

    5. This is a horrible thing to hear. For the boys to go through so much trouble in escaping and then to just be sent right back is sad. Why were they sent back if they were not being treated right? It seems that in North Korea the people don't really matter.

    6. Even though this story is heartbreaking and tragic, there is something positive you can get out of it. Imagine if a dangerous serial killer escaped from North Korea and was headed are way? 2. Its sad to say that people who are hired to make sure the law isn't broken are part of the ones breaking the laws. Mexico should really look into this type of "police" men and take actions towards the ones who are trying to get money under the table and should ask for aid from another country to help them with all this illegal drug dealing and all this murdering of innocent people. As its also sad to say that the government does not really take actions towards this type of people, government officials know that they are safe if they let them slide by but deep in their conscience they know that a baby is going to sleep without his mommy tonight as she may had been killed by one of those heartless people , or that a mom is hurting for the loss of her son as he may had been shot to death for not giving up his money for which he may have worked hard for. Its even sadder that MEXICAN people living in the United States are afraid of even setting foot at the place where they grew up at.

Finally today Al-Ghamdi was sentenced to 8 years in jail and 600 lashes. Many people in Saudi Arabia did not agree to this sentence and believed there could be more done to this famous Islamist evangelist since he was knowing for speaking of God's word. Elkins has a violent history too with assault and shooting a pastor when mugging him.

Overall though, he knew what he was saying and he kept his word about shooting the baby so now he has to suffer the consequences.

I can say that the workers of Six Flags should've been trained to check seatbelts or handles properly before letting the customers go one the roller coaster no matter what there is never excuses for an individual to pass away in such a tragic way.

However, when someone gets on a ride they are running at their own risks. In Six Flags they usually make two people check the seat belts before starting the ride, and I myself have experienced people getting asked to get off because of the rules and safety of the customer. This was just a horrible incident and my prayers go out to the people who were impacted by this accident.

The cause for the attacks is the dry weather conditions, which is a good time for hornets to breed making it easier for humans to encounter them in their daily routines. The best way to protect yourself from such attacks is to keep way from nesting areas, because a simple shake to the nest will startle them and respond to you as a threat. The best thing to do in a case of attack is to minimize your movement and to walk away calmly.

    2. The hornets you mention are also gigantic in size. Finding a consumer-friendly prevention method might be difficult, since we can assume it would take much more to kill these than normal hornets. (If you don't believe me, google it. The things are pretty big.) It may come down to having teams of specialists sent out to kill off what they can if the situation gets worse.

According to Bloomberg on September 30, about one in seven borrowers defaulted on their federal student loans, showing how former students are buckling under higher-education costs in a weak economy. The default rate, for the first three years that students are required to make payments, was 14.7 percent, up from 13.4 percent the year before, the U.S. Education Department said today. Based on a related measure, defaults are at the highest level since 1995. U.S. borrowers owe $1.2 trillion in student-loan debt -- including government loans and those from private lenders.

In 2010, an outbreak of cholera, a disease indigenous to Haiti, took the lives of an estimated 8,300 Haitians. Currently, Haitians are still dying of and being diagnosed with cholera. The Institute for Justice and Development in Haiti is demanding financial compensation for the lives lost. The disease is believed to have arrived through the U.N. Peacekeepers stationed in the country. Several investigators trace the disease's outbreak to a sewage leakage from a U.N base where Nepalese peacekeepers stayed. Jonathan Katz, “a former Associated Press reporter who was one of the first journalists to investigate the source of outbreak in 2010”, accused the U.N. of trying to avoid taking responsibility for the cholera epidemic. The prime minister of Haiti, Laurent Lamonthe, deemed the U.N.'s efforts to abolish cholera as insufficient and wants the disease to be further studied. Farhan Haq, U.N. spokesman, states the U.N. will be taking more precautions to prevent the epidemic from spreading.

    1. I read up on this, and apparently not only had 8,300 Haitians died from this disease, but there are also 650,000 survivors, so this epidemic effected a very vast number of people, especially when considering what a small country Haiti is. Cholera seems to be a pretty terrible illness. Its an infection that occurs in the small intestine and has rather unpleasant symptoms, such as vomiting. People get cholera form contaminated food or water, which means its very likely that the U.N. is to blame here, and that the sewage leakage is responsible for all this.

Weber Middle School has banned soccer balls, footballs, round balls, tennis balls, and other varietys of balls from the playground stating that "it is a threat to the children's safety". Not only that, but performing the cartwheel or participating in any ruthless games of tag must now be supervised by an adult. On the bright side, the school is providing soft nerf balls for the students to play with. The district has released a Press Release stating that due to the construction being taken place near the school, it is unsafe for them to play with hard balls. Parents of these students claim that the district has crossed the line with the "no playing with hard balls" policy. One parent expressed her thoughts in an email to CNN by claiming that she is sad that those kids won't get the chance to experience the thrill of kicking a hard ball across the field with their friends. Another parent went as far as to say "freedom is great until the parents sue the district". The students at Weber Middle School will not be able to handle themselves in society unless the policy is removed, according to Alex Martin, associate president of a Manhattan Nursery School. CNN still awaits to hear from the superintendent about what he thinks of the policy.

    1. Although I do not agree with the limitations on the kids by the middle school in Port Washington, the number of kids that go to the emergency room may be the reason for their actions. According to CBS News in September over 90% of children reported going to the emergency room from sport injuries. They are stressing the small injuries because those were the more common like "strains, sprains, fractures, bruises and scrapes" as said by CBS News. In the end, I feel like its unnecessary to stop children from enjoying their life, but I do see their point as well.

    2. I personally feel like the new policy set in place by Weber Middle School is a bit extreme to say the least and I feel like there will be more negative effects brought about by this than positive ones. For one, the rule is somewhat ridiculous, so after something like that I feel students will have trouble taking their school's administration seriously. Also it eliminates the possibility for a many sports: football, volleyball, basketball, soccer. Participating in sports like those gets kids active, and teaches them about teamwork, dedication and perseverance. Missing out on all of that just to prevent the possibility of a few minor injuries here and there doesn't seem worth it.

    3. The school has no right taking that away from them. That is how kids have played for years and it has never been life threatening . Without this experience of playing with balls and unrestricted tag theses kids won't be able to develop like a normal kid.

Since the devastating earthquake in 2010 over 8,000 people have been killed due to the cholera bacteria. Haitians believe it is due to the “peacemakers” deploying there to aide the country in the times of need from the earthquake since the disease is not indigenous to Haiti rather it's mainly present in the northeastern region which is thousands of miles from Haiti. The United Nation is also accused of trying to cover up the responsibility of the cholera epidemic by not wanting anyone to talk nor discuss the topic. Oil prices hit $103.00 per barrel on Monday which would drop gas prices to $3.35 per gallon. This price would be 46 cents less than last year around this same time. The declining of gas prices would bring a positive outcome to people now but to others it would cost them their jobs. It is roughly estimated that about 800,00 employees would lose their jobs as oil fields would not occupy as many workers with this low gas price. This loss of jobs was also cause by natural events such as that of hurricane Karen which affected oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico. This amount of unemployment would hurt our economy in a very severe way as it would mean less taxes from this workers along with more financial help from the government. This shows that wining about gas prices affects other peoples lives , so don't complain! (:

There is water (bonded with other minerals) in the Martian soil, equalling to about 2% by volume. There has been an ongoing search for H2O on Mars because it could lead to prove that organisms could have lived on Mars. This search has been the main reason for exploration of Mars since the 1960s. Each exploration is getting humans closer to the Living Past of Mars. Too bad the funding for Nasa has severely decsreased. Will we ever know the unanswered truth behind the Red Planet?

According to Fox News, Arpaio is now removing meat from all meals in his jails, replacing it with soy. The inmates will still receive their 2,800 calorie and nutrition requirements. Arpaio is not doing this for health, religious, or environmental reasons, but instead for economic reasons. This change will save the jails $100,000 a year.

    2. Is this good or bad for the economy or even the poor cellmates in a prison? I guess the United States now has to do whatever it can to cut down the large amount of money it consumes. I believe that although this is not fair to the nutrition of the jail people, it is a step to a better way of cutting down the budget. Because apparently we really need to reduce our consumptions in the United States.

But what happens when the ones that are supposed to be defending us are the ones attacking and harassing us? In an article on Fox News, it elaborates on the situation of one particular member of the community- Cassandra Feuerstein. At the age of 47, she fights against an officer that released physical pain and trauma upon her. The harassment was performed on March 10th, 2013, nearly 7 months before the article was released. He forced her to remove her undergarments and boots, and he even hurled her behind the bars. To make the matter worse, he lied about the reasoning he did it; so, it leaves us with the ultimate question- should the one meant to rid our homes of crime actually be the one we need to rid ourselves of?

Elaine Dang is a lucky survivor who tells her story about the horrific events that took place in front of her. What she expected to be an average day at the mall turned into a storm of chaos. Song's strategy to avoid being shot was one that not a lot of people might of been willing to do and that is covering herself in someone else's blood. She did this to make it seem like she had already been killed. Luckily her plan worked but at that moment, she tells CNN, she had convinced herself of her death as well as convincing the lady lying next to her who had already been shot. She witnessed people surrendering but then being killed. She heard the shots and screams all around her. But after a while a man came and lead Elaine Dang and many others to the downstairs exit where they were safe. Instead of making Elaine frightened of Kenya, she states that she fell even more in love with the country.

  52. According to Fox News, on September 27th, 2013, two criminals, Charles Walker and Joseph Jenkins, were mistakenly released from a prison in the panhandle of Florida. They didn't perform some of the drastic plans that you see in the movies that require a spoon, a perfectly placed poster, and some all nighters. In fact, all they needed was paper and pen. Both men convicted horrible murders to endure the horrific life sentence that they were given, yet in September, their forged papers announcing the ending of their sentences were approved, and the men were released. They are now in hiding, but will hopefully be found soon and returned to the Franklin Correctional Institution in Carrabelle.

The drug is known as Krokodil, which is pronounced crocodile, given the fact that the symptoms include black and green scaly skin. The drug eats away flesh from the inside out causing major damage to tissue and veins throughout the body. Researchers have found many people that have died from the use of this addicting drug. Krokodil abuse has mainly been found in Russia and Ukraine but has somehow made its way here. Krokodil is cheaper than cocaine and easier to make which is leading to the mass supplies of abusers. Hopefully this drug will quickly be removed from our area.

If you want to die, I guess that’s how you could do it.

But it is a little bigger and is approximately double the mass of Earth. It is located in the Cygnus constellation, hundreds of light years away. The planet is so close to the sun that it is 2,000 degrees hotter than it is on Earth. They learned that it orbits the sun every 8 1/2 hours. Astrophysicists predict that in a few billion years, Kepler-78b will be soaked up by the sun.

On October 24, 2013 in danvers, Massachusetts Colleen Ritzer a high school math teacher who worked at Danvers High School had not returned home the Tuesday before being filed as a missing person. Many individuals knew how well Ritzer presented herself as a good human being, when investigators went to the school where Ritzer worked they could not find any clue of where she could be found. After looking for any clues or whereabouts of the missing teacher investigators had found blood on the second-floor school restroom. Later that evening Ritzer's body was discovered in nearby wood by the high school her body was in a recycle bin where authorities had seen the exigent trauma that had happened to such a great, loving, and kind teacher. There is never any excuse of murdering any human being, never is there a reason to kill. The characteristic of the 14-year-old Phillip Chism who is on trial recently seems as if he has no sympathy or regrets of such a crime he had committed. Ritzer's very kind and humble post she had shared on August 11, 2013 said "No matter what happens in life, be good to people, Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind." This quote will most likely forever stay in her students hearts it shows what a great individual she was and she had no purpose of being murdered. No one does.

Jessica Black, the young boy's mother says to have warned her son of the controversy he would cause by dressing as a member of the Ku Klux Klan. When the young boy was asked why he chose this costume he simply said "Cause it was cool"; he said to have first seen the attire worn in a 1991 movie. The boy's mother despite her warnings did not seem to be completely against the costume considering she made the costume for her son and argued that this was a "family tradition". Jessica Black claims that this was meaningful, since she believes that, "It's suppose to be white with white. Black with black. Men with woman." Due to this controversial event the family has received multiple threats.
